About the Sefer
Chovos HaLevavos was originally written in Judeo-Arabic by Rabbeinu Bachya ibn Pakuda, a dayan in eleventh-century Spain, and translated into lashon hakodesh by Rabbeinu Yehuda ibn Tibbon as Toras Chovos HaLevavos.
